Aina Nadzir
I visited a friend in Pantai hosp during lunch time just now with Denn. We chit chat for a while, and suddenly the topic i fear most came up; working life in TM.

I came to realise that reason why there are so many internal probs and wrong perception on TM is because of the employees themselves. We complain we are underpaid. We compare the treatment we get with the competitors. We do not want to work overtime cos we don't get paid OT. We do not want to this we do not what to that. We kept asking what the company doesnt give us enough. Why arent we asking what we can give to the company?

MONEY!

That wraps it up. We are so-called underpaid. we execs dont enjoy OT despite working till late at night and during the weekends. Majority of the employees are not working for the good sake of the company and its business..but just for individual needs...money. I know you'll be like "what the hell are you talking about aina??? u r underpaid urself. n u complain that too!" . well yeah! but if we only complain and do nothing about it, will the situation ever change??

It has to start somewhere. If you start believing that you can make a difference by being less self-centred and think more towards the benefits of the company with your work...and if everyone in TM starts thinking that way...wouldnt things be different?

I've been working with McGirvan Media agency for weeks now. And i sincerely solute them. When they say "yes ill deliver it tomorrow", they keep to their words. and the quality of the work is still top notch despite the tight dateline! ofcourse behind the scene there will be cursing from the staff for late notice n this and that...but it is the outcome that matters at the end of the day.

We complain we dont get to stay in 5-star hotels when we travel for work. But are you working to the level of a 5 star-employee? Exactly! Instead you look at the clock every 10mins to see what time you cna go back. And when it's only 5.15, you are already packing and waiting in front the elevator to go back. Question yourself back. Put money aside! Cos money comes with attitude. and it starts from you yourself. Dont expect others to change and improve if you refuse to.

So work for money or work for career? Your pick. You not only decide your future, but the rest too..!

Peace

in international agencies/corporations/companies a person holding an entry level position works hard and puts in that extra effort of wanting to be better at what she/he does - despite the low starting pay, because he/she knows in the end all the hard work will be worth it. nobody gets paid OT either but that doesn't stop them from working overtime and over weekends.

getting ready at 5.15pm? *snigger* that's MALAY for you. cakap je banyak, productivity low.

i think you'd should do something about TM's advertising strategy too, its just SO all over the place.

You cannot blame the employees as we are living in a materialistic world, the inflasion increase each year but the salary stays the same, further more, the opportunity to be promotered depends on number of years you serve TM and not your contribution. No matter how much you contributed, no matter how long you worked, no matter how many endless days or night you have contributed, can you change TM? Yes, it has to start somewhere, but at the very begining when a huge solid bar with superior power stand in your way as your belief might jeapordize their stands, sorry to say, not only promotion but you will be lucky if you can get back your pay as half of how much you've contributed. Its the culture, the world, the lifestyle, the personality, and the real world we are comparing to as those which we are competing with too, thus what we see is not from imagination or creation but a reality. Why should we not be getting when others can?

that's why I want to resign because the company does not appreciate my OT, underpaid, etc.
